Naming ceremony
I’m a firm believer in ensuring that milestones are marked and celebrated, so once we arrived in Auckland we had a welcoming and naming ceremony for Anna with close friends and family who were able to make it. It was pretty informal but we asked Laura and Hamish to be Anna’s “guide parents” and planted her whenua (placenta) under a kowhai tree – which I guess makes Castor Bay Anna’s turangawaewae – her place to stand.
